“Though Christianity seems at first to be all about morality, all about duties and rules and guilt and virtue, yet it leads you on, out of all that into something beyond. One has a glimpse of a country where they do not talk of those things; everyone there is filled full with what we should …
“Are you serious?” Jesus demanded. His closest followers, the ones who knew him best, were ambling along on the dusty road to Capernaum. Kicking up a different kind of dust, they were arguing about who was going to be the most famous, the biggest superstar, the one first on his block with golden sandals. Jesus …
Judging our Neighbors. “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. For the measure you use, it will be measured out to you.” (Luke 6:35-38). Let’s say a driver seems to …
The heroism of Christopher Nolan (2) “I want to highlight the creativity within the brain of a cripple, and while not attempting to hide the crippledom I want instead to filter all sob-storied sentiment from his portrait and dwell upon his life, his laughter, his vision.” (Christopher Nolan, referring to his autobiography) When a true …
The heroism of Christopher Nolan (1) “I want to trip inside your head, Spend the day there… To hear the things you haven’t said, And see what you might see. I want to hear you when you call. Do you feel anything at all? I want to see your thoughts take shape and walk right …

What did Jesus mean when, after taking up a child into his arms, he said that whoever welcomes, whoever receives, one of these little children in his name in fact welcomes him? (Mark 9:36-37). It would take a lifetime to plumb the depths of his statement, but it’s almost as if …
Jesus Christ, Y’shua Messiah… the wild card in the pack, the court juggler of grace and truth. He was easy to describe, and impossible to understand. Some of his names were Rose of Sharon, Lion of Judah, Lamb of God, Morning Star, Stone of Stumbling, Root of David, Lilly of the Valley, Great Shepherd, Suffering …
(15.) Embracing the Characters “The more I considered Christianity, the more I found out that while it had established a rule and order, the chief aim of that order was to give room for good things to run wild. He who has the faith has the fun!” (G. K. Chesterton) Every educator knows about the …
Of the three life essentials needed to survive, food is my favorite. Well, after clothing. There’s no doubt that the Co-Creator of this tasty world has a thing about food, too. Jesus’ first miracle, after all, was at a wedding feast where he refused to be a party pooper. He was indeed the Lord of the …
“May the All-Merciful One bless this table at which we have eaten. May it be like the table of Abraham our father; All who are hungry may eat from it, and all who are thirsty may drink from it.” (from a traditional Sephardic Jewish Passover liturgy). Abraham, that towering Patriarch who continues to be the …
Jesus the party planner. We know that Jesus is the host of the heavenly banquet. Who will he invite to that feast? Well, a clue… Who did he hang out with when he wined and dined on earth? Who did he enjoy rubbing shoulders with when breaking bread? Looking at his earthly guest list will …
