Believers Delight – in the Lord

Believers Delight – in the Lord

Believers Delight – in the Lord.

“When the Holy Spirit shows us God as He is, we admire Him to the point of wonder and delight.” (A.W. Tozer).

There are many ways to talk about delighting in the Lord:

Enjoy God… Find your life’s enjoyment in Him; Make Him your deepest joy; Enjoy yourself in His embrace.

Rejoice in the Lord… Exult in Him; Celebrate His existence and His presence; Praise Him with gladness.

Delight in God… Be delighted in His goodness; Take pleasure in His love; Be content in His sufficiency.

The Lord is your fulfilling happiness… God is your heart’s delight; the Person of God is your greatest pleasure.

When we delight in God, His mere presence brings us joy. When we delight in God, there is nothing more satisfying than interacting with Him. When we delight in God, we tend to celebrate our relationship with Him with joy and gratitude. When we delight in God, the profound pleasure that He brings is sufficient, no strings attached, no benefits given. When we delight in God, we rejoice in His character and can trust in His goodness. When we delight in God, we don’t need to pursue satisfying pleasures anywhere else. When we delight in God, we happily expect our relationship to deepen. When we delight in God, we joyfully count the blessings of our relationship with Him.

Delightful Scriptures include:

Psalm 37:3-4 = “Keep trusting in the Lord, and do what is right in His eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure, feasting on His faithfulness. Then you will delight yourself in the Lord. So make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, and He will provide for you what you desire the most.”

Psalm 43:4“I will come closer to your altar, O God, until I come before you, the source of all my joy, the joy of my delight.”

Psalm 94:19 = “Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.”

Nehemiah 1:11“Listen to all your servants who delight in revering your name and honoring you with awe.”

Isaiah 58:13-14 “If you hold back your foot on Sabbath from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call Sabbath a delight, the Lord’s holy day, worth honoring; then honor it by not doing your usual things or pursuing your interests or speaking about them. If you do, you will find delight in the Lord.”

Isaiah 61:10“Rejoice greatly in the Lord! My soul is so joyful in God! For He has clothed me in salvation, dressed me with a robe of righteousness, like a bridegroom wearing a festive turban, like a bride adorned with her jewels.”

Habakkuk 3:18“I will exult in the Lord, I will take joy in the God of my salvation!”

Psalm 145:1-3 = “I will exalt you, my God and King, I will extol you and praise your name forever and ever! I will bless you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure His greatness!”

Psalm 147:1“Praise the Lord! How good to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how fitting!”
