Prayers for Midday

Prayers for Midday

Prayers for Midday.

Here at the middle of the work day, Lord, renew within us the vision of work as redemptive, as done for the sake of your glory. Give us energy and motivation to complete today’s work with excellence and hopefulness. Help us to continue working heartily, as something done for the Lord and not for man. Amen. (swl).

“Let the beauty and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands, yes, the work of our hands confirm and establish it.” (Psalm 90:17, Amplified Bible).

Come Holy Spirit, produce in us your fruit, tangible fruit that will be a pleasurable source of beauty and truth in the world, and through us spread the vibrant seeds of your Kingdom, multiplying your life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Amen. (swl)

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP).

Almighty Savior, who at noonday called your servant Saint Paul to be an apostle to the Gentiles: We pray you to illumine the world with the radiance of your glory, that all nations may come and worship you; for you live and reign for ever and ever. Amen. (BCP).

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.   (St. Francis).

“O Lord our God, let your sweet beauty rest upon us and give us favor. Come work with us, and then our works will endure, and give us success in all we do.”  (Psalm 90:17, The Passion Translation).

Blessed Savior, at this hour you hung upon the cross, stretching out your loving arms; Grant that all the peoples of the earth may look to you and be saved; for your tender mercies’ sake. Amen. (BCP).

O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen. (BCP).
